Indiana Golf Cart Laws (2026): Local Ordinances, ID-Card Drivers and LSVs
In Indiana a golf cart may not be driven on any public road or alley unless the city, town or county that controls it passes an ordinance and posts signs. Here is what IC 9-21-8-57 and the rest of Title 9 require: a driver's license (or a state ID card at 16 years and 180 days where the ordinance allows it), liability insurance, no BMV registration, county crossing rules for state highways, and how low-speed vehicles differ.
